Hissing Curse - Klezmer KJV Song

Combining historically congruent prophecies on Astonishment, Desolation, and Hissing, into unique Klezmer Biblical Praise Music.
KJV Cards
Prophecy of the Hissing Curse
History of the Hissing Curse…
Listen now

In desert lands, where darkness grows,
Hissing drowneth out the crows.
The LORD is wroth, with foolish foes,
Astonished nations reap their woes.

Flies and bees swarm in reply,
Thorns and briars pierce the sky.
Passers hiss with scornful eye,
High and lofty, mean men die.

Desolation, wagging hand,
Hissing deafens all the land.
Sinful cities, towers grand,
Crumble down at hiss command.

Gnashing teeth, the wicked see,
Swallowed up by hiss decree.
Prophets weep on bended knee,
God perfect thy prophecy.

Hissing Curse, idols mingle.
Hissing Curse, abomination.
Hissing Curse, ears shall tingle.
Hissing Curse, hiss will be done.

Alternate Choral Versions for Hissing Curse

My original preference was to showcase a full choir version, with a dancing video, but the tools are not yet capable of achieving a quality result.
So, I elected to showcase a pure vocals version, but below, you will find some quality audio recordings, for choral editions of the song.
Perhaps, in the future, we might be able to render visuals for some of these.

Hissing Curse - Soprano with Choral Conclusion

This version is similar to the pure soprano edition, but about 30secs longer, and it concludes with multiple repetitions of the chorus by a female choir.

Hissing Curse - Full Choir

This version is the original seed for this piece, and is a bit more involved than the pure soprano edition. The vocals are not as clear, and the piece is about 20secs shorter, but it also has a much larger range of dynamics and effects.

The Making of the “Hissing Curse” Songs

This was, by far, the most difficult song I’ve worked on, to-date, in terms of perfecting the lyrics, and ensuring Biblical accuracy. I thought I was going to be able to launch this whole series on Halloween (2024), but was greatly delayed by project complexity. The final version was actually the third version of the song lyrics, paired with the third version of my melody and style.

I thought it would be a great idea to make a song out of a combination of multiple Bible passages, on a singular topic, but it was much trickier than I expected it to be. I had to create a cohesive narrative, from top to bottom, and then I had to make sure the terms were from the KJV passages, and I had to incorporate rhyming scheme that agreed with the scriptures, and pick song styles and melodies and voices and images, which are all consistent and appropriate. Layers on layers, upon layers on layers!

And, at the end of all that work, most people will probably sneer at this, and find it to be offensive subject matter. So, it’s important that folks reference my partner post, over at KJV Cards, that they might see the full prophecy, and understand the depth of God’s mercy and love and righteousness, through perhaps the darkest continuous curse in the history of Israel.

2 Chronicles 29:8 KJV
Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
